Wow! Today has been a crazy past few days.
Have you ever been so desperate for water you drank straight from a river? No? Well then let me tell you a story about my Man Vs Wild experience this week.
It started off like any ordinary camping trip, tents, food, a campfire, and water. As time went on, we realized we only had enough food and water for about one day!
The next day we had no water at all, and almost all our food was gone, and let me tell you, we had no car and we were in the middle of nowhere. It was so hot outside and we were just a bunch of water deprived teenagers.
We started a campfire and were cooking the last of our food, the hamburger patties, when a forest ranger came and made us put out our fire because of high fire danger. He gave us a few bottles of water, but those didn't last well.
The day after that we had no food, and no water. We had to go down to a creek and gather water in water bottles and be brave and drink up, since none of us had had very much water in that whole few days. In the morning I felt very sick, and the world was spinning. I was so dehydrated and I drank the last of our clean water, which made us go down to the creek.
The water tasted gross, and I'm pretty sure I got water poisoning from it, but I'm not dead so I'll be alright.
Next thing you know, it was super hot so we all passed out in our tents until about 2p.m
When I woke up I was like "Fuck it guys, we need to walk to a market or somewhere with service or we are all going to die out here"
Our rides had ditched us Saturday and Sunday, so I really just wanted to get home.
We walked for a good hour until we found a ton of blackberries! As famished as we were, we were so thankful for them. We all picked handfuls amongst handfuls and then kept walking.
A few minutes later we found a suitcase. Inside was a pair of handcuffs(kinky, eh?) some food, clothes, blankets, and basic survival needs. The suitcase looked semi old so we took what we needed, but I cute my finger on a gross shaving razor inside! Yuck! I put some antibiotics on that and carried on with our long walk.
Many times we stuck our thumbs out for passing cars hoping to get a ride, but no one stopped.
After a good two more hours, I was near fainting, and the other two just hungry, tired, and thirsty, a silver car pulled out. Wow were we relieved! It was my friends mom! (Mind you, we are old enough to handle ourselves but we are still thankful to call our moms when in need.) Holy shit, she saved us!
I think the worst part of this adventure was waking up on night 2 to coyotes howling and circling our tent, but other than that it's a really great story and am I glad to have lived it!
